I find this issue really difficult to deal with. I think the only fair way to do it is to be able to roll for items that go with whatever role you are fulfilling in the raid.
And I think you have to clear up the loot rules before even joining.
Personally, I would just rather use Blizzard’s need/greed system and have that be the end of it. But I know I’m in the minority here, and I have given up fighting for it.
